Manifesto

Photography as a means of expression, take your imagination, feelings, fears or dreams and keep it forever in an image. Tell the world what you cannot do it with words.

Memories of your life, that show how you grew up, how your mind has changed, your goals are not the same as five years ago; and all of this is not written with words, or maybe it is, but it’s also expressed with all the pictures you have made during the years.

My goal is to get better doing what I love, be able to express my feelings and thoughts.

This blog will let you know me a little bit more.

Me Myself and I

final.jpg

A little bit of time for yourself is not selfishness.

This was one of the hardest pictures to take because I didn’t use Photoshop, all of the reflections are real and taken at the moment. I needed four people holding the mirrors, another two or three people holding reflectors at the back and of course the model. It was difficult getting all the reflection at the same time since the people holding the mirrors moved their arms unconsciously and even if it’s a little it changes completely.

Finally, we got it and it wouldn’t have been possible without all the help. I’m really proud of the result and it’s one of my favorite pictures of this project.

Full of rage

1

The hidden face.

This picture was so fun to take, the model is quite tall so I had to get on wood block. First I took a picture of him screaming and later I took another one of him holding both mirrors and with a straight face… while he was complaining that he wasn’t a model, he bit his lip and I could capture that moment.

I edited with Photoshop putting his screaming face on the mirror like it was a reflection, wonderful combination.

The look you don’t see

final

For those people who go unnoticed but looking and analyzing everything around it.

For this photo, I needed two people, the model that is also touching the mirror, and another person holding it. I took a picture of the girl looking straight at me, and then I took a picture of her looking to the side and with the mirror in front of her face.

I used Photoshop to put her eyes on the mirror so it looks like it is her reflection.

Someone behind the mirror

My sixth picture was taken in the forest near the College. I took the mirrorĀ  I have in my bedroom and I went with a friend that also had to take pictures for her project.

We found these stairs and I thought it was a good place for a picture so I told her to sit down and hold the mirror but hiding all her body behind it except her legs; this was the result.

Thousand Nails

Final

This picture is one of my favourites so far. I chose two pieces of the broken mirror with a similar shape and I told my hands model (my teacher) to hold them.

She made her nails just for the picture and the contrast of the red with the aqua I obtained with the color gel looks so good.

I edited on Photoshop and I made more reflections of the nails on the mirror so it makes it more interesting.

Third Eye

final

For this picture, I used a piece of the broken mirror I also used on the second picture of this project and I stuck it on her forehead.

I used blue and pink color gel to obtain a colorful background without having to edit it on Photoshop. Someone hold a reflector behind me while I was taking the pictures so the reflection on the mirror would be white.

I edited it on Photoshop and I copied one of the eyes so she’ll have a third one.

I think the model couldn’t have a better face, it looks kind of creepy but I love it so much, also her long hair and her rape t-shirt make a perfect combination.

Little mirrors

Taking pictures of a little mirror was not a piece of cake but after 20 minutes trying to figure out how to focus the reflection of the branches instead of the floor and the actual mirror, I did it.

These pictures don’t have a lot of edition but I think they are great by themselves, and I learned a new thing!

Broken Reflection

final

For this and probably the next pictures I used a piece of a broken mirror that I bought on a second-hand shop and I broke on a mirror shop.

From all the different shapes I got, I chose a triangular one for my second picture of the project. The model held the mirror with both hands and I took a picture of her reflection from her right side. I took it in the studio with a white background.

Mirror Mirror

final

We’ve started the third and last trimester and one of the final projects we are working on is the Senior Show, where each of us chooses a topic and takes 10 pictures related to it. Eventually, we do a show where we expose all our pictures in big size.

I chose mirrors as my topic and this is my first picture.

I took a picture of my classmate reflected on a hand mirror and I edited the background, that initially was white, and finally, I masked it with a purple tone on Photoshop.
